Orthopedic Massage

Orthopedic Massage Therapy

Orthopedic Massage is a type of massage and bodywork that is focused on muscular-skeletal problems, issues and alignment, regardless of whether they resulted from an accident, injury, over use, bad habits, or other. The goal in orthopedic massage is to release tight muscles, stretch shortened muscles, release tendon constriction, and relieve compression in the joints. Ligaments and connective tissue is also addressed for inhibiting and restricting the body. The intent of orthopedic massage is to help relieve the client of specific conditions by trying to normalize the soft tissue for body balance. A prescription is not needed for this, and it is not meant for clients needing medical massage with a diagnosis. There will be an assessment of the client and the problem areas, while determining a plan. The assessments tools used are from posturology and Neurokinetic Therapy. In orthopedic massage a wide range of bodywork techniques are used with the intention of improving the client’s overall condition.

Massage Articles

The difference between Orthopedic Massage & Medical Massage. Please be aware that I have studied under James, and this is a very old article. He mentions that in one of the states the requirements for massage license is very low, but for the last 10 years in that state the requirements for getting licensed is the exact same as WA and numerous other states.
