Myofascial Release

Myofascial release by a massage therapist on a clientMyofascial Release

Is a form of soft tissue massage and bodywork that is used to treat the impaired or altered functions of body structures which consists of the myoskeleton system, nervous system and lymphatic system. Normally there can be a lot of pain and lack of mobility for the client afflicted with these restrictions. Relief and improved postural correction is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing blood flow in the veins, increasing circulation in the lymphatic system, stimulating the stretch reflex of the muscles and softening the overlay of fascia.

Scientific research studies done showing positive massage results achieved through Myofascial Release.

There are two different types of Myofascial Release, Direct and Indirect. We practice both here. Overall the massage can be gentler. Using sustained pressure on the medium to light end, depending on the clients circumstance. The massage may include stretching and traction of the muscles for added release and softening of  the surrounding fascia.
